Parent Education

The Parent Education program at Argonne is run by parent volunteers and funded by the PTO. These speaker sessions are held at the school in the evenings, midweek, and are free. Free child care is provided at the school and we will have dinner offered at meetings when possible. Here is a list of speaker topics from the 2016-2017 school year:

  • TALKING TO YOUR KIDS ABOUT SEX
  • HOW KIDS’ BRAINS WORK
  • PARENTING LEGACIES
  • CPR BASICS
  • FEEDING CHILDREN HEALTHFULLY
  • RACE AND INEQUITY IN OUR WORLD
  • TALKING TO YOUR KIDS ABOUT RACE
  • SUPPORTING HEALTHY FRIENDSHIPS

We’re planning some similar topics and some new topics for the 2017-2018 school year. We love that Argonne Elementary is teaching the parents as well as the kids!

A special thank you to Marcela Hunter at the Y for her help corralling child care every month.
If you attended any of these sessions and enjoyed them, please tell an Argonne friend! And give generously to the PTO — those dollars are how Parent Ed happens.
